Frequently Asked Questions

Our frequently asked questions are meant to provide you with a guide to some common concerns regarding our most popular cosmetic surgery procedures. For full details on any surgical or non-surgical procedure performed in our clinics, we recommend booking a consultation with one of our highly experienced surgeons.

Liposculpture and Laser Liposuction

Liposuction should not be expected to produce substantial weight loss. It is a fat reduction surgery, but it targets specific problem areas and is only recommended for patients within 10kg of their ideal weight. For example, the maximal effect is a reduction of 10cm from the abdominal girth. If you are expecting a dramatic change in your appearance, you will probably be disappointed.

Fortunately, significant complications from liposculpture and laser liposuction are infrequent. Some potential risks include irregular contours, bruising and swelling, postoperative bleeding and blood clots in the legs. Your surgeon can fully explain the potential complications with you during your consultation.

Liposculpture and laser liposuction generally take from 1-2 hours. You will be required to wear a pressure garment 24 hours per day for 2-4 weeks following surgery, only removing it for showering. Most patients return to work 2-5 days after the procedure. Gentle walking and light stretching may be done after 14 days with normal activities being resumed after 6 weeks.

For the first 24-48 hours following the procedure there will be swelling and results will not be easily seen. The swelling will reduce over the first 14-21 days with about 60-70% of the final effect being visible. The final outcome of your liposcultpure or laser liposuction will be visible 3-6 months after the surgery.

Abdominal Etching

Abdominal etching is not a fat reduction surgery and should not be expected to help you lose substantial amount of weight. It is designed for people in good physical health looking for more athletic contouring. If you expect dramatic changes from abdominal etching, you will probably be disappointed.

Fortunately, the risks associated with abdominal etching are very rare and thousands of operations are performed every year with no problems. Some potential complications include bruising and swelling, postoperative bleeding, blood clots in the legs and infection. Your surgeon will discuss the risks in detail at your consultation.

Abdominal etching generally take from 1-2 hours. You must wear a pressure garment 24 hours per day for 2-4 weeks following surgery, only removing it to shower. Most patients return to work 1-3 days following the procedure. Light stretching and gentle walking may be done after 14 days and normal activities can be resumed after 4 weeks.

After an abdominal etching procedure you can expect that swelling will hide the effects for the first 24-48 hours and continue to reduce for the next 14-21 days. At this time you will have 60-70% of the final outcome with full results coming visible after 2-3 months.

Breast Surgery

Every breast surgery is different and breast augmentation, breast lifts and breast reductions each have their own process, recovery time and potential risks. Discuss these issues with your surgeon before deciding to undergo cosmetic surgery.

There are many issues that we can address with breast surgery, including increasing and decreasing the size, creating more lift and firmness as well as correcting imbalances. Your doctor can discuss your concerns with you and recommend breast augmentation, breast lift or breast reduction.

Many men suffer from Gynaecomastia (commonly referred to as “man boobs”) and a male breast reduction may be the best answer in correcting this issue. A consultation with your surgeon will determine if a male breast reduction is right for you.

Face Surgery

Facelifts, eyelid surgery and injectables provide patients with smoother, firmer skin while helping to eliminate wrinkles, under-eye bags and other signs of aging. The results are natural and give you a refreshed, younger look. Nose jobs can correct the size, length, shape or position of your nose and often help with breathing difficulties.

There are many options in both non-surgical procedures and cosmetic surgery at Australia Cosmetic Clinics. Depending on your need we can conduct facelifts, nose jobs, eyelid surgery or alternative treatments such as injectables and fillers to address fine lines and wrinkles.

Each of these procedures is different, but thanks to advances in technology and techniques, they are less invasive and require less recovery time than ever before. Facelifts, eyelid surgery and nose jobs each have their own process and recovery time. Talk to your surgeon for complete details.
